Eye of Storm - Chapter 2 Bridge Corridor


Captain Octavious punched the overide into the corridor's  door panel and the bulkhead doors sliced open in front of him. He could see the other doors the xenos mutants had manged to close, hoping to block the Astartes advance, open in sequence down the passageway. 
 "Advance! He called. His squad of Gravis armoured Aggressor Space marines flowed forwards, their boltstorm gantlets up and ready.
 "Imperials are dying brothers, now is not their time. Move! yelled their Sergeant.
 The corridor led to the defensive redoubt that was holding out against the mutant uprising that had taken place on the ship. The redoubt was the only way into the command portion of the bulk carrier ship, the Eye of the Storm, including its bridge. It was all that had stopped the mutants from seizing the ship completely and prevented the Genestealer scum from using the internal defenses such as the doors against the Marines.

 3rd Company was gaining momentum after their initial penetration of the boat bay hanger had met stiff resistance. The Captain had taken a Demi company and it's Lieutenant to reinforce the forces holding the redoubt at the bridge.

The Mission

 Having achieved the initial breach into the boat bay hanger, the Death Tempters must push deeper into the ship's interior to secure the ship.
 The forces that breached the ship must move either "up" ship towards the forward section and the bridge where the crew fight for survival or "Down" ship towards the engineering spaces where the cult has managed to gain control of the propulsion.
 Squads sent "up ship" cannot then fight in the battles "down ship".
 Therefore the Death Tempters are splitting their forces. One Demi company led by Captain Octavius is heading up ship. The Second Demi company led by the Iron Father and Chaplain is heading down ship. 1st Demi is going to take the boltstorm aggressors, what's left of the heavy intercessors, the heavy bolter tactical squad, Company veterans and the bolt rifle (rapid fire) intercessors

The rules

Corridors give the same effect as boarding patrols. Units can't shoot through their friends.

Characters in coherency at the end of their movement phase with a unit can join it and can't be picked out except by weapons that ignore the look out sir rule. This is true even if the leader is in front of the unit. 
Characters can leave at the end of the movement phase when out of coherency. If the unit being led is in engagement range of the enemy the character cannot leave the unit even if they are not in engagement range themselves.


Deployment


Genestealer turn 1
6cp

The genestealers reveal themselves and charge forwards looking to hold their quarters and slow the marines down.

The Aberrants charge down the corridor towards the Aggressors and the Captain. 

The blob of 15 acolytes headed towards the door on their right. 

The neophytes on both sides moved up to cover the cross corridor doors. The clamavus led the right flank. The Magi followed in the wake of the Aberrants to buff them with the might from beyond. 

With nothing to shoot the turn ends

Space Marine turn 1.

 Like the Genestealers it's all out running to make the cross corridor and centre before the defenders can lock it down.

 The Aggressors with their Assault weapons grind forwards just into range of the Aberrants with the lead two Marines.

 All the other units advance with the exception of the heavy bolter combat squad I25-2. There were blips on the Auspex that indicated xenos were trying to flank them.
The Aggressors launched their frag munitions and poured in fire from this guantlets and chewed a Aberrant into bloody ruin.

 That concludes the action for this turn

Genestealer Turn 2

The neophytes move into covering positions closer to the doors where they are in rapid fire range.

A group of 10 Hybrid Metamorphs appear behind the Heavy intercessors.
 The Marines had been forwarded by their battle brothers auspex scan (2CP) and turned to fire.
 Their shots pummeled the unit massacring 5 as they dropped down from vents and launched from under foot grantings.
 The Aberrants move as far as they can normally for a long bomb charge.
The Magi casts Might from beyond on a 8 on the Aberrants 
The Aberrants are in charge range this turn but as they are in the corridor the Magi can't do anything else and hangs back ready incase the Gravis armoured Imperials mange to break through.

 The Remaining hybrids fire their flamers at the heavy intercessors and strip two wounds off the rear most Marine.

 Those Aberrants fail to get to grips with the Aggressors by a single inch. Can the Aggressors punch through in a single turn or will the slabs of muscle get to fight?

The hybrids charge the Heavy intercessors and claw the injured Marine down and his brother holding the heavy bolter.

Space Marines turn 2.

The marines in quadrant 1 move to hold the corridor and force the blob of acolytes to come at the one at a time. The Lieutenant takes lead advancing to park himself and his relic shield in front of the single model archway. 
 The Aggressors and the Captain walk towards the Aberrants to lay down withering fire and charge past the centre.
 In quadrant 2 the champion switches direction to engage Hybrids before they can  strike at the Heavy intercessors.
 The Apocathary moves into 3" of the Gravis marines and uses combat restoratives to pick up the heavy bolter Marine.
 
In the shooting phase the heavy intercessors managed to plug one of the two remaining Metamorph hybrids with their pistols.
 The Aggressors then let full rip. Careful placement allowed the sergeant and the Captain to draw a bead on the Aberrants. With extra fragstorm grenades and shots directed by the captain. Who managed to not wound anything. The Aberrants lost two outright and left one on a wound.
 They followed this up with a charge smashing through the remaining Aberrants and their Hypermorph like they weren't even there.
 The Remaining Hybrid took the opportunity to counter charge (2CP) to strike the Heavy intercessors as the Company Champion charged in. Somehow though it failed to wound.
 The champion showed he was still injured from the battle for the hanger and also fluffed his hit and wound rolls.
 The Intercessor Sergeant showed him how it was done with a single blow to the head and a heavy boot.

 The xenos mutant beast charged down towards the Captain and his point team of Aggressors. Their Gravis armour led the way as their brothers flanked them either side of the corridor.
 Gutteral growls and hisses echoed in the metal confines of the corridor. They were making no effort to hide or attempt to ambush the Marines as they advanced just a mad brutal rush towards their foe.
  Captain Octavious let them come careful of his Auspex reading of the movement reading inside and out of the right envrons of the corridor. 
 The front rank of Aggressors  let fly  pounding the first beast as it entered engagement range with boltstorm fire. 
 The Aberrants screamed in rage as the first massive body dropped the ones behind loping over the fallen to get in range as the frag grenades fired from the launchers atop the Gravis armour detonated about them. Their charge was disrupted as the explosives tore at their legs and unarmoured bodies.
 The Space Marines continued their advance now at a steady pace walking their fire into the now stationary mass. As they entered a central cross section the Marines opened their formation allowing their second rank, in which Octavious strode, to fire.
 Bolt round fire intensified and a further volley of grenades detonated amongst the xenos brawlers their heavy mining hammers and picks useless against the mechanical precision and overwhelming firepower of the sons of Ferrous Manus. 
 No other Genestealer breed could have withstood such onslaught at close range but the Aberrants kept over their dead and kept coming. 
 The Space marines were there to greet them never halting in their advance they had moved forwards walking the fire into the group. Now heavy power fists swung. Genetically enhanced muscles stronger than any human we're doubled by their armour and the power field generated around each fist. 
 The Aggressors seemed to take a martial boxing stance with the fists allowing the beasts into arms length diverting their attacks and then landing their powerful blows as the Aberrants came in. The power fields of the gauntlets exploded against their skulls smashing bone and cartilage as if with was paper.
 One brute attempted to get to the Captain swinging a heavy metal pole it seemed to ripped from the side of the ships internals. The squads Sergeant C77 caught it from behind as it made to leap, his armoured fist clamping down on its head pulling it back at and awkward angle before driving his other guantlet down and through the creatures spine. The neck broke and the beast slumped like a puppet with it's strings cut.
 And the marines marched on in silence.

 Watching from behind the Aberrants attack, a lone figure hunched against his staff and felt a very mortal chill as he watched the Armoured boarders simply wade through the blessed sons of the cult The Aberrants had filled the corridor, their nightly size and strength had seemed impossible to stop but and now they lay still at the feet of enemy. A very real chill of his mortality ran through him. 

 The Emperor's Angels of Death had come.

Genestealers turn 3

 Everything holds what it's got. The magos tries to hold the last door with his psychic might as the Aggressors approach. All the other units watch the door with the exception of the acolytes who walk on into the corridor to cut through the LT.

 The magos uses his psychic blast and smite to kill an Aggressor. His auto pistol does nothing.

 The acolytes shoot and charge the LT. Despite the LT putting transhuman on himself a rock saw in the front row got one attack through and the office is down to a wound. 
 He attacks back with mercy is for the weak and manages to drop 5 of the genestealers.
 Rules for corridor fighting say the closest models have to be removed meaning the LT is free of combat come the close.
The clamavus keeps the acolytes in position.

Space marines turn 3

 The LT and the veterans take the fight to the acolytes and prepare to shoot.
 The rear guard squads fan out to try and stop the ambush they know is coming somewhere.
 The heavy intercessors get into the corridor with the lead combat squad and the Apocathary tags along to add another intercessor back in.

 The Aggressors march towards the magos refusing to fire  so they can charge and rip the psykers head off and get closer to the end objective.

 The LT and vertrans manage to clear the corridor of most of the acolytes with their  bolters

 They then charge and manage to finish the unit off but refuse to leave the corridor so they can get the cover bonus.

 The Aggressors and Captain make their 5 inch charge on the magos and the Captain swings his power sword removing the head from the snake.

Genestealers turn 4

 Still holding the line the neophytes prepare for the space marine assault.

 To pull the 2nd quadrant back the shotgun neophytes appear led by the icon ward to try and make the marines think twice about moving forward and to deny the quadrant.
 This lets the combat squad of the tactical unit open fire on overwatch taking down three.

 The neophytes closest to the LT open up but miss fail to wound or bounce from the 2+ armour saves.
 
 The shotguns claw down a marine in the tactical squad in return but they fail their charge even with a reroll to get the icon ward in 

 Space marine turn 4

The Aggressors fan out on the corridor objective. The heavy intercessors now back up to full strength advance forward to get out of the corridor. Overwatch whines uselessly off the Gravis armour. 
The lead combat squad moved out into the sight of the second neophytes with the locus.

 The tacticals get another bite at the shotgun neophytes but fluff moist of their shots.

 The lead tactical flame and grenade the 10 neophytes and cut down 6.

 The Heavy intercessors also barely do any damage and only take down two from their targets.

 The LT and veterans start shooting but only 3 neophytes are taken down

 The champion charges the icon ward and the tacticals fail to follow him in.

The LT and veterans are so close it doesn't matter but the Ancient manages to catch up and charges too.

 The lead tacticals go into the neophytes and locus but the locus will fight first.

 The heavy intercessors are also close enough to smash their opposing unit.

 The LT manages to slice down a couple. The veterans show themselves up again and just take down a couple. The ancient batters the Clamavus and the rest run away.

 The heavy intercessors get most of their unit but are lodged in combat.

 The tacticals lose a guy to a over watching flamer and another 1 and a half to the Locus who dodges their attacks. In return the marines kill the remaining neophytes.

 Genestealers turn 5

 With nothing really left those in combat stay there. The tacticals lose another man to the locus but the neophytes are purged by the heavy intercessors.

Space marine Turn 5

 The remaining marines mop up the GSC and are firmly in control of the corridor. 

The way is clear.
