Death Tempters Highlighting

My collection of Space-marines are now approaching the company size level of over one hundred marines. Probably not the best time to try and alter the look of them as it will take a while to run through them all.  When I was painting up some Necrons I dry brushed a black base with the old bolt gun silver I noticed how good it looked just doing it lightly. It really brought out the edges. So I tried it on the new assault intercessors and I did three varients. I got ahead of myself and started hightlighting before I'd really finished the base coat but I figured I'd need to tidy up my highlights anyway.
First is my usual highlight with "fang" blue
Next I tried just the silver on its own.
This came out really well and I liked the effect.
Next I tried putting them together.
It's hard to see on the pictures especially as they are not finished but by eye it adds a lot to the look of the model and seems to give them more depth.
I'm liking the dual highlight and it'd be easier to retrospectively apply to my old model but others have said they prefer the silver on its own.

Sslyth. The cold bloddied Bodyguards

Planning is all well and good but I can't follow mine. Its a hobby after all. I decide to make myself some Sslyth.
These are mercenaries that are dependable. Archons hire them for their court to watch their back and perform certain tasks that couldn't be entrusted to one of their own Drukhari vassals.
The model available to them is a little dated and the is only one cast with a single set pose.
I really liked the look of these coversions I found on a Google search.
This is using Melusi tails from the Age of Sgmar range and attaching them to two set of bodies from the kabalite set.
And here are their close ups

The arms are blu tac'd on for the moment for priming and base coating then will get their final stuck on positions

Silo thinking

Tin can silos are another staple of the recycled terrain collection.
I have been using them as they come for years but watching YouTube has shown there are so many better ways to make them look
The first thing they tell me to do is mask the tin canny-ness of the tin can. Real silos don't look like that. I used some brown paper/card that had been holing some wrapping paper in a roll. This worked a treat as it was thick enough to mask the ridges but thin enough to be easy to work with.
I then added details in the form of bands and smaller pipework. I even added little bits of round sprue to the tops to look like valves.
I sprayed with primer.
I really liked how this was going so I created a second one
