I had originally started back in the early 90s at the start of 2nd edition. My first army was Blood Angel Space Marines. I couldn't paint and I managed to gather 3 tactical squads a dreadnought, predator and a rhino. Death Company when it came out was a must have so I have 9 with a Chaplain. The old captain model leads them with nothing but his trusty bolter. Focus was not something I was good at and was lured into collectimg eldar which soon outstripped my imperial force. I managed to get a squad of each aspect apart from banshees but only exachs for the striking scorpions. I liked karandras and for some reason also bought Jain Zar two dreadnoughts (wraith knights), guardians, wind riders and scouts. Even the Avatar of Khaine who I was rather proud of at the time.
Then I discovered if you talk to girls they talk back and beer was a very good liquid and the toy soldiers went away.
I picked up the hobby again after university and I was working nights and needed a hobby as everyone else was at work in my evening time. It was the beginning of 4th edition and I hated the rules. The mighty 5th was born an imperial guard regiment from the dead forests of Novguard. Tanks struggled on their home worlds mountain grags and forest expanses. The mighty 5th was a light infantry formation with 40 guardsmen 10 specially converted vet's many heavy weapon squads and a couple of transports. Kaskin formed special forces. They needed a foe and the Necrons caught my eye. I wanted hordes of merciless warriors marching relentlessly towards the imperials.
I grew bored of painting guardsmen and warriors and wanted to start a new army. I began a new space marine army. At first they were going to be my own chapter. The Death Tempter. The paint scheme wasn't working though. They then became Crimson fists in honour of my favourite artwork from the 2nd edition rulebook cover.
It was at that point mI dropped the hobby again as I wasn't playing and had a new job in the sunlight.
Now with a family I need a quiet hobby I can do in the evening when everyone is asleep I have started again. I wanted to blog what I am up to more for my own record. I have been back in the hobby for a year so will be back tracking for a few posts to try and keep things straight.
